I found a little rust on the bottom of my tailgate  It's only visible when it's open so I am considering trying something like por 15 or rust bullet. Any experience on this?

A vote for POR15 here. I've used it since the late '80's- I think there are still spots of it in Dad's driveway. I just used it on my oil pan job I posted about here. Only issue is it needs to be top coated if exposed to UV.

POR 15 is a great product for light rust. The problem with the tailgate, especially in cold climates, is any moisture getting in the tailgate or doors settles in the folded skin at the bottom and when it freezes it blows out the caulk and eventually starts rusting. I just replaced my 03 tailgate with an 07 and with repair and paint it cost apex $800. The body shop recommended spraying oil inside the panels. Mechanics at the dealership recommended a product called Endura from a manufacture called Castle. It comes in a spray can and comes out as an oil but solidifies into a grease. I have put it into the dors and tailgate on my 03 and hope it minimizes the ravages of salt and ice in northern Ohio.

P. O. R. is great stuff. I put a new rubber floor in a heavy used cattle about 15 years ago. We took the old floor out and used the P. O. R. on all of the metal. Needles to say, it was already rusty, so we did it the way they said. Today, everything is about to fall off but the floor runners and up the sides where we painted is still good with most of the paint still there. It never gets cleaned, we left a crack between each board and that is it.

Second vote on POR. Works well if the surface is prepared well (do not attempt to use just a wire brush - been there done that). The big draw back is it is highly toxic especially if sprayed on as the application method.

Thanks for the replies, glad to hear they work and aren't just snake oil. I will definitely look into the Endura, sounds like it will save alot of money down the road.
