Can a 1990 P-pumped 6bt perform the same as a 94-98 cummins with

a P7100?

What does it take to turn a rotary into a p-pump other than a new pump? I am assuming new fuel lines what else? Do I have to order a custom mounting system? Or do they use a similar mount?

Will the older model 6BT's with a P-7100 be virtually the same motor as the newer 12 valves or is there other things that limit the older engine in comparison to the newer models?

How much HP are you after? 400 is doable with the VE, just have to know who to talk to.

P-pump conversion requires-

-new gear case (necesitates cam removal, so you may as well get a PDR cam to go back in).

-New lines OR new injectors and stock P-pump lines.

-new lift pump to supply the P-pump.

-P-pump. There are dozens of variations of the P7100. The 913 is the most sought after, because of increased fuelling capability with stock internals.

As for power, the limits of the older engines is the fuel system. A 12valve is basically a 12valve, with a few minor changes through the years, but nothing big I am aware of.

Conversion

Unless you are after really big power stay with the VE. They a cheaper to buy and can make good power if tweaked right. Buying an appropriately tuned pump from someone like piers I guess works wonders. I have been driving a second gen for a year with nothing but grief. The first gen was simpler and easier. The P pumps are too much hassel.

Just my $0. 02
