Hey guys!
I pulled a former '95 Powerstroke pickup apart, and replaced it with a '95 12 valve, and a ZF-6. I finally got the thing ready to try to start, after everything was bled. I ziptied the fuel shutoff arm on the pump back so it'd keep it from starting until I could see it had proper oil pressure/no major leaks/horrendous calamity/etc. My gauge registered no pressure. I was confused, so I put a mechanical gauge in the port above the oil filter. It registered nothing, as well. I put a second gauge in the spot from the stock dodge sender. Nothing there. Pulled the gauge from the stock sender, and cranked with nothing to seal it. No oil out. In, and around my minor, cursing tantrum I tried to "pressurize" the system with a transfer pump. I could get about 5PSI pushed in, but it would bleed off. The only things I could think of were that A- the pressure relief valve has somehow failed open. B- The oil pickup in the pan has an air inclusion preventing it from pushing oil, and ???? caused it to bleed off strangely fast, C- Oil pump has failed/broken a gear.
For perspective- The engine had 159k on it, and ran well, with proper pressure. The engine has been sitting for close to 8 months now. To pull it out of the Dodge, I had to pull the oil pan, and pickup tube. Can I get some thoughts on what my next step should be? I'm going to try to "bleed" more air out of the system tomorrow, and see if I can force some oil to the pump.
