Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) P-Pump gear keyway?

I'm in the process of sealing up a bunch of leaks on my recently purchased 95 3500, involving pulling the FI pump off. Last night I noticed there was a keyway in the pump shaft. I thought the gear was just a tight press fit with no key. Am I right or do I need to search the driveway and adjacent shrubs for the missing key?

Correct, no key.

The cutout is there for a key, but the gear is a press fit onto the shaft of the pump. There are a handful of adjustable pump gears available that have a keyway cut and a half-moon key can be installed in the pump shaft.
