Competition Drag Racing With a Dually ?

I am building a 24v with a p-pump conv. I have a pump off of a 96 that I put delivery valves in but have been told many times that I still won't see the power that I would from a 215 pump out of a 97. . Is this true and if so would I be better off just getting a 13mm plunger pump built or is there a way to get the parts and have a local pump shop do the work? I have also looked at a p-pump from an 8. 3 cummins that is supposed to be 275 hp. Would this bolt up and be a better choice? I am somewhat on a budget since I have the whole truck to build along with the engine. Any help or opinions would be appreciated

The 215 HP P pump with have a part number that ends in -887 or -913 on the side of the main housing, under the area where the accelerator linkage “tripod” bolts onto it. That is the best pump for power. If you use a different Dodge application P pump, you won't get any power advantage at all over the VP44. It is a big, expensive job to change your engine over to a P-pump. The pumps from the 8. 3 liter engines have different oiling. The feed is through a port in the front cover flange where the pump attaches. They are not a reasonable fit on a B engine.

As Joe said, lots of work for not as good of a return. Stick with the 12v motor. Or put the 12v motor in your 24v truck. 12v's flow better anyway.

on my 96 3500 c&c the data plate on the cover has the 215 hp engine produced in 95 (don't now the production date of the truck) it's got a 887 now but the goober i got the truck from changed the pump chasing air leak problems, thank god he put a 215 on unlike the 160 hp injectors he installed #@$%!
