Well, had P0087 (fuel rail pressure low), P1011 (delivery pump pressure low) and "CATALYST FULL SEE SERVICE" all show up to day. I was towing and was climbing a hill, so I would have been pushing it. I'm going to change the fuel filter as soon as I get one. The CP3 has been leaking a little fuel for a three winters now, it only leaks in the winter!?!?!, so I don't know if it has given up. The fact that the P1011 shows up though, makes me think that it isn't the high pressure pump. What do you guys think?

What confuses me is the Catalyst full message, I don't have one!! All that is left in the exaust system it the catalitic converter(I think that is what it is) that is in the down pipe from the turbo, I haven't deleted it. Would it plug up?

I doubt it. The cat converters didn't plug in the 5. 9s when we were using low sulfur fuel (not ultra low sulfur) and CI-4 oils, even with bigger injectors and magic black boxes.

Is your truck out of warranty? How many miles?

130,000km's, so yes still has warrentee, "but" I may have to try a different dealer since the one that I went to two years ago when the pump first started to leak they said they wanted $5g to fix it since I have a chip. I told them where to find the $5G and left. I know the chip that I have doesn't mess with rail pressures, so it wouldn't cause the failure of the pump if it is failing. I'll have to start with the filter tomorrow to see if that solves it. I have noticed that it seems to be inconsistant lately with the power, when I step on it a bit, it is sluggish. I hope the filter will do the trick, it's only a few months old though.

#@$%!Changed the fuel filter today, no better. Tomorrow I will try to get the pressure checked from the tank pump. I noticed that the EGT are about 150 - 200 degrees higher than normal most likely due to the fuel not atomizing properly during the injection. Would this be an injector stuck open? Could this cause a low pressure situation?

I had a truck in for those exact same two codes, but without the catalyst message. And long story short, it ended up being and injector. While driving, the rail pressure would only build to about 22 k, when the demanded pressure was 26k. What I did was performed injector return flow tests, with each injector capped off one at a time. Found the injector that when capped, the engine had the least amount of return. Changed the injector and all ok.

I got a few test done today and the tank pump was only putting out 3-5 psi. So tomorow I'll be installing a fass system and that had better fix the problem. I have been noticing power loss gradually for a while, this would explain it.

Well, put a FASS 150G in today and now I have a different problem! code P000F, rail pressure relief activated and then P0087, low rail pressure. This leads me to think that it is not an injector. It should either be the FCA valve, of the rail pressure relief. The Edge Juice W/attitude chip is all that I have and it doesn't increase rail pressures that I'm aware of.

I had lots of power for a few seconds, then felt the relief valve let go and bog down. I never had a high pressure problem before, do you think the FASS system would cause the CP3 to over do it? Even then, the FCA valve is supposed to limit that anyway right?

also the overhead consule chimed in at the same time with the"Catalyst full", I don't have one!!!! only the converter in the down pipe. But even if it was plugged, this wouldnt cause a high rail pressure.

i would assume you have the electrical connectors for the DPF taped up somewhere under the truck? unwrap those connectors, clean them up with some contact cleaner, cover them in some dielectric grease and seal them up again. maybe do the same with the pressure differential connector, too (and any other sensors/connectors that have to do with the dpf)

Well, had the valve cover off and checked for leaks ther, none. Took to Dealership and they did a check on the valves and the flow and they are all good. They said they were sure that there was no fuel in the oil. I must of had a brain fart and over filled the oil, I hope! I went over to NADP and they said to plug the rail, so for $62 I pluged the rail... . All problems appear to be solved! That sucks after $1100 for diagnostics, and the Fass pump which the dealer ship said that 5 psi on the tank pump was fine.

Oh well, live and learn for a price.

Thanks for the help.
