A friend of mine has an 06 325 6sp with Edge Juice w/Attitude, AFE Stage II Int with 5" exh. He is complaining that when he gets over 80-85 mph (he's a county shreiff) that he gets a code P-0148, its telling that its a fuel delivery error. I'm thinking its the in-tank pump is going south. But some people are telling him it is the MASS Sensor. What should we do to get him on the right track?

P0148 is what I got when the lift pump (fuel filter mounted) in my 04. 5 started to go south. Fortunately it was at the end of an 8,000 mile trip and we were able to make it home to NH and our dealer (Bonneville & Sons in Manchester and absolutley no problems with them) where the work was done under warrantee. That was at 56K. They replaced it with a pusher in the tank and no problems since.

Does he have warrenty, the first thing to check if you don't is fuel transfer pump volume, if you need the diagnostics tell me and I can get them to ya

P0148-HIGH PRESSURE COMMON RAIL (HPCR) CHECKSUM

Set Condition:

A deviation between the fuel pressure set point and the actual fuel pressure.

Possible causes:

OTHERS DTC'S PRESENT

FUEL LEAKS

FUEL CONTROL ACTUATOR

FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR

CASCADE OVERFLOW VALVE

CHECK VALVE DAMAGED OR BLOCKED

FUEL RETURN LINES OBSTRUCTION, DAMAGE, OR DEBRIS

LIFT PUMP FLOW

AIR IN FUEL SYSTEM

LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS OR HIGH PRESSURE CONNECTORS

PRESSURE LIMITING VALVE

HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP

INTERMITTENT CONDITION

There's been quite a few posts here regarding P0148 over the years and most of the time it seems to be the result of low fuel pressure to the CP3. So a dieing lift pump, Clogged FF or clogged screen on the pick-up in the tank could be the cause.
