Check engine light keeps coming on?

Started the truck & let idle for 20min or so, when i came back it was running rough. Engine light was on so i checked the codes, p0192,p2609,p116 (the only one that seems relevant is the p0192-fuel rail pressure circuit)

i then drove around the block to see what it would do under load. still ran & idled rough, and had approx. half power of stock. i then checked the rail pressure gauge (reading 0 at idle and under load) before i bypassed the TST. i then proceeded to hook in the TST bypass harness, unhooked the batteries and grounded out the pos. lead for half an hour.

once again started the truck, running rough & showing the same codes. i then plugged the factory rail pressure harness directly into the sensor & proceeded to drive. after about 4 blocks the engine just died. if i waited a few minutes it would fire and run for about 25 seconds before dying, but would not fire right up without waiting.

then after waiting on hold for over an hour for my "free" roadside assistance a local independant tow truck appeared & i had him tow me to the dealer. at this point i was called out of town on work. then next morning the dealer phones to tell me "my truck is running fine can i please pick it up". i send the wife to pick it up and drive it for a few days before im comfortable having her bring it to me 5hrs away.

that evening (approx. 1hr of total driving time since she picked it up from the dealer ) the engine light comes back on and the truck dies. she starts it, it redlines, she gets scared and shuts it down. further attempts to start it have been futile. (yes im still out of town at this time)

so when i get back home any suggestions ??

my first step will be to physically unplug the entire TST harness and try that. 15,000km on the odo & the TST has never been over setting 3 (drive on setting 1 99% of the time)

I did but it was just the EZ connector not making pin contact in the connector body. It was an easy fix by calling Edge. Had new harness in one day.

My WIF light came on truck ran rough and then wouldn't start. I checked the codes and figured out it was somthing to do with the fuel pressure so I unhooked that and everything was cool again. I first thought that my rail pressure gauge connector wasn't passing the signal through but it did. I think you can also get that code if your pressure relief valve is bad because the commanded rail pressure isn't the same or is out of range or rationale compared to the measured pressure. So... . could be the FCA on the back of the CP3 or the rail pressure sensor itself or the pressure relief valve. Maybe someone could post how to truly test the relief valve. I think you can also just put a bolt in place of the banjo at the valve so it plugs it and try to run it that way. If it runs then the valve is bad. Not sure, never had one fail on my truck.

I would take all of your modules off and return to stock. If it runs, then by way of elimination, start putting things back on. That's what I did to find my problem. Good luck.

as i had originally suspected, it turned out to be a faulty rail pressure sensor. of course nobody in town had a $260 cummins part, so i ended up paying the $425 to DC :(
