Truck runs fine when cold after it warms up, it quits when going into reverse or drive(unless you keep the RPM's up. Had the 0216 code. the dealer replaced the Pump and lift pump. No help, but the new pump had a new p 0216 code so he replaced the pump again. same problem again but ATTM no code. He thinks it might be fuel. I don't or every Dodge in Alaska would be in. I had a factory program loaded into it 5 years ago so when it gets cold it shuts off 3 injectors and raises the RPM's to 1200

Anyone else have this an what was the fix.

Have they tried swapping out the ECM? 3 VPs with the same symptoms/problems would have me looking elsewhere or at least at the wire harnesses and grounds.

Are you factory stock? What year, etc??? Fill out the signature in the user control panel and your truck info will be on your first post of each thread.

fuel?

I have a 99 auto all stock. I agree it must be something else buit what? the Dodge dealer is telling my shop that it may be a fuel issue. If so then all the other trucks would be lined up at the door

A 216 code is a timing error. It can be set by a air leak in the supply line to the lift pump. The canister in the tank can start leaking air into the supply causing the problem. Also a injector that is sticking will put air back into the injection pump which also sets a timing code error. Hope this helps. Thanks

Help

OK still not fixed, they changed the timing alittle and added a fuel stabilizer.

1. When the truck is cold it starts and runs great. When shifting between Park and reverse or drive the RPM’s drop about 25 RPM with no hesitation

2. After the truck gets up to temperature it still runs good until you shut it off.

3. Once it is turned back on (warm), when shifting from Park to reverse or drive the RPM’s drop about 150 rpm and many times it shuts off. when going back to neutral or park from gear it jumps up 150 RPM

4. The P0216 codes also sets but not every time and it doesn't quit everytime

I suspect, there is a computer problem, but I don’t know which one. I had a software upgrade 5 years ago that shuts down 3 injectors and increases the RPM’s to 1200 when it's cold out.

It can’t be a fuel problem as I have gone through 5 tanks since this started and if it were fuel every truck in the area would have the same problem.

What happens when you shift from park to reverse or drive, electronically? Going from Drive to 2 or 1 is ok. (no change in RPM)

Is the fuel relay being shut off during this time?
