Radiator Leaking... which one to buy?

2006 Ram 2500 4x4-to buy or not?

Hi folks,
In April of 2016 I purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega-Cab 4x4 with a 5.9 Cummins. It was already loaded out with the following Banks equipment:

Cold Air Filter w/Banks High Ram Air Intake
Custom Exhaust
Six Gun Tuner
Banks O/D
Exhaust Brake

Mind you, it came loaded...but now I'm understanding why the truck was traded to begin with. I already had to wipe out the old program, and buy a new one. But even the new one is constantly displaying the code: P0243. I do know that the P0243 code is saying wastegate control failure. Yesterday I had it at a Dodge dealership to get some recall work done to it. So while there I ask the service department about the problem. They told me that the Wastegate was not separate from the Turbo and that I'd have to purchase a whole new Turbo Charger. Is this true? If not, what do I need to do to correct this issue with the P0243 code? I am totally new to the Diesel family and trying my best to get my truck running the way it should be. I am told that with everything on that truck I shouldn't be able to keep a set of tires on it....I have yet to even be able to put a little black smoke out. I have a large camper that I'm pulling with it. Can anyone help me?

Find the wiring harness that goes to the waste gate actuator. The pigtail that comes off the actuator is known to cause this code. The wires get corroded and break. Look them over real good and if there is a bad wire and you can repair it, you just saved a bunch of money. If the wire is bad and you can't fix it, buy a boost fooler and move on with life.

CPP or Cummins Performance Parts sells a replacement wastegate actuator for $150. I think that they are close to $400 from Cummins.

Plug the line to the wastegate and put a 110-150 ohm resistor in place of the solenoid connection. if you don't either plug the line or readjust the wastegate you will only be getting a max of 24psi instead of the 32 the truck is set up for.

like ipennock said the 110-150 resistor will stop the code but i do not like to plug the waste gate especially if you are adding fuel, it is easy to cut the hose to the waste gate and add a boost elbow and set it to 32 psi. most people do not understand how the solenoid works so when they upgrade the turbo they have no solenoid on the new turbo and the unplugged lead causes the code, look and see if it is stock or not, if it is stock as stated above one of the wires on the solenoid will be broke. the solenoid is very visible from the fender well unplug it and use a pair of water pump pliers or a small pipe wrench to remove it, we modify our solenoids and make them into a boost elbow but requires mechanical skills you may not have. i do not have pix of the solenoid on the truck but here is pix of solenoid with coroded broke wires, turbo with solenoid and pix of converted on truck so you know what you are looking for.
