My truck has had the P0243 code (wastegate solenoid malfunction) for a few weeks now. I took a look at it and the insulation on the wires going into the solenoid has been rubbed through and the wires are corroded where they go into the solenoid.

Does anyone know what the part number would be for a new wastegate solenoid? Is it a dealer only part? Cummins part?

Anyone know how difficult they are to replace? I've been searching for several hours tonight and can't find any answers as to where to find one and how to replace it.

I believe you are allowed one free serial nuimber lookup

Thanks. I tried that, but they don't show anything for the wastegate solenoid. I checked with a few local Dodge dealers and they said that the solenoid isn't available separate from the turbo, so I would have to buy a complete new turbo. Sounds like BS to me... anyone else have any ideas?

Do you have any electronics that bypass the solenoid? i. e disable the WG?

I have the edge juice/attitude, but that doesn't bypass the solenoid. I'm pretty sure that the wires going into the solenoid being completely corroded and worn through is causing the code, since I've had the juice/attitude on the truck for over two years and 45K miles.

I don't think its the E J/A. . but if your not using the solenoid you can get a resistor that guys use with aftermarket turbos to make the truck think the solenoid is working. I don't know who all sells them, but I think Nathan at MPI does. . Cheaper, easier fix than a new solenoid (that your not even using) or a new turbo.
