Well last week I was struck with a 299 code on the interstate going to the Cynthiana, KY truck pull.

I pulled over at a rest stop and cleared the code with the Bully Dog box.

Go the rest of the way, just fine.

Well, on the way back in about the same area of the hills/mountains; the code strikes again :(

This has me wondering.

Both times the code struck, the truck was running decent rpms down the interstate. Also the engines cruise control was activated and running downhill with little to no fuel but still making boost.

Last time I threw the code, the engine was doing a similar thing.

Using little throttle, if any and making boost with decent rpms (over 2k).

My thoughts, you can all call me an idiot, but this is the data I am seeing when this code hits.

If so, then twinned trucks should be seeing the 299 code.

I never had this condition ever happen with the B1 turbo that the SPS replaced.

Just wondering outloud, what are y'all's thoughts?

BTW. . I previously have cleaned and added dialectric grease the map connections and turbo solenoid connection.

My truck did the same thing to me 3 times running the triple dog with outlook. needless to say the outlook went back and the edge/attitude went in. in my opinion the edge is way better quality and alot more lowend grunt. the attitude is way easier to navigate and read also. the triple dog gauges were also way off my egt's cruising were almost at 1000 with the edge they are at about 650-700 the water temp was also way off with the outlook it read around 207-210 just cruising. the edge is right at 190. my vote is dump the bd and get the edge!!

jamie

ps. i am not sure if you are actually running the bd or not i just read your sig and dont see it. but this was my experience with that code.

My truck has sent this code every 175 miles since I changed my stock turbo. It has done it with a juice with attitude and has now done it with a TST installed. I think the Common rail '05 engines electronics are a POS. I wish I could put my '01 engine in this truck... Yes, I do have a plug in the boost sensor pigtail... .

I am at wits end with this 0299 crap. My truck does have a permanent P2607 code that stays in the truck... Dealer forgot to adress that last time... I will have it taken care of shortly... . I don't know if the 2 codes are realated, but doubt it...

I am going to push for a reflash too.

This 0299 code is complete horseshiite!

Cheers, Bill

Funny I have never had any codes with the HTT in mine and it is set at 50psi. Maybe you should give them a call and get their fooler for the plug.

I have not had any codes with my combos. We did use the Industrial Injection jumper for the turbo solenoid connection. I have always had the Juice connected for boost fooling. It seems to do boost fooling ok on stock setting as well. With the Crazy Larry and Juice on stock 45psi and no codes. Crazy Larry and Juice on level 3 48psi and no codes. Not sure what the difference between using the II jumper and just leaving the OE connector in place is, but you might want to try that.

Well, today I drove 560 miles with the new sps 66, and no codes... . Pulled into get a quick bite to eat, and when I restarted the truck, I pulled a 0299 code myself. The whole trip I had the Edge Attitude set at 1 (and pulled 17. 9 mpg vs. the overhead showing 17. 7 mph).

Anyone figure this out yet? I have the boost fooler installed, but maybe HTT's unit is a better install...

I have not had the 0299 code for approximately 1 month. The last time I had it was on a road trip, from LAS to Barstow, stopping for fuel and then within 3 miles getting the 0299 that I have been battling for 6 months. After the reset using the BDDL, the truck ran fine until the return from LAX stopping in Barstow again, then getting 4 miles down I 15 before getting 0299 again. I HATE the electronics in this engine. I say again, I wish I could put my 2nd gen engine in this truck. In my opinion, the electronics are over engineered and much more complicated than they need to me.

I have had the SPS66 on for 7,000 or 8,000 miles now. I have ran it with TST/EZ and TST/BDDL Crazy Larry, TST/BDDL Performance and the only code I throw is P0088 High Rail Pressure. That is with TST(twins) 6/6 and BDDL Performance program. I usually will throw that code one or two times at the track and then no more. I have been making a lot of 400 mile round trips lately. Made one last night with TST 3/3 & BDDL Performance. Cruise set at 74mph with no issues.

I have the Jumper supplied from II on the connector to the electric wastegate solenoid. And last week had Michael up the wastegate to 55psi without issues.

Barstow?? I got my code when I started up my truck at the Baja Fresh in Barstow last night! Maybe its something in the air there. .

Another reason to dislike Barstow :-laf

Did anyone ever find a cure for this? Been reading in the archives for an hour or so with no info. I have an 04. 5 with and edge juice with the hot program. Towing my holiday trailor right now in limp mode has got me a little angry. #@$%!#@$%! The P0234 code also makes my truck limp. #@$%!#@$%!#@$%! I am almost ready to buy a smarty so I can clear codes. Something about being de-fueled to 30% engine load and 5 psi of boost has got steam coming out of my ears. Can't even get 50 mph out of it on flat ground with my foot through the floorboards. #@$%!

Mine hit right around Coalinga, Bakersfield, missed it in Barstow, and right before las Vegas, on the way home it never tripped?

Justin, you have been a long time without the famous 299 since you installed the new charger yes? Most people have it with the 62mm trim chargers but you never tripped it with your B1? I ONLY see mine when I have a heavy trailer behind me, Just went to Idaho Falls ID with about 2K lbs and never seen it, hook up my 7500 lb snowmobile trailer and within the county on the flats or on the highway it will popup, in the hills (making lots of boost) doesnt trip?

It just seems there are to many variables to this code. I also remember reading here that Chris from Relentless Diesel had a fix for this at one time, but never looked into it?

I never had the code with the 62mm b1 but I did not have a programmer at time either.

I did start getting the code when I had the SPS66 and at the time had the Bullydog Power Pup.

With the Aurora 5000 I have never tripped a 0299.
