Since installing the TST about a year ago, I get this code every once in a while. Usually causes the engine light to come on after a stumble during acceleration. This would happen about once a month and the light would stay on for a few starts and then go off. Not too concerned about it.

This weekend on a trip, the light came on. Then went off after a few starts. Now is back on again. It does not really bother me, I think that it is from the engine ECM communicating with the TST and not agreeing all of the time :-{} . I am just wondering if any one else is seeing this and if there is a cure to keep the light from coming on from this code?

Let me know if there are any secrets floating around out there.

Thanks,

Well hope they don't mind. This is on the TST web site for FAQs on 03+ PMCRs. I paraphrase.

Getting Crankshaft Position Sensor code P0336.

Some trucks will get this code if you have a PMCR with serial number 2879 or under. It tends to occur most around 1100 RPM under load. It does not mean there is actually a problem and it can be ignored, but sometimes the engine will "stumble" or "hiccup" at low RPM under load. This problem can usually be fixed by reprogramming the PMCR module. There is no charge for the reprogramming to fix this code. If your PMCR serial number is 2880 or higher it has the latest fix for the P0336 code, so if you are still getting this code then there is currently nothing more we can do. It often helps to remove the timing harness and reconnect it to make sure the connectors are seated well. Don't use dielectric grease. It will not help and can actually make it worse. The connectors have seals that will keep moisture out. Make sure the Cam and Crank Sensor connectors are correct. It is possible to get them backwards. The connector farthest from the PMCR should go to the Crank Sensor, which is near the bottom of the engine, and the connector closest to the PMCR should go to the Cam Sensor, which is near the center of the engine. TST is continuing to try to resolve this issue. Check these FAQs for updates.

I get the code everynow and then even with the newer serial number unit. Mine is usually when I accelerate a little to hard when it is cold or if the engine is not warmed up, but I have just got in and started the truck and had the code. I just clear it and drive on.

Great, thanks for the help. I am not sure the serial number of mine. I will check on it. But like you said, I will just drive on.

I was throwing that code and the P0341 (Camshaft) and a CEL. The truck would start billowing smoke, and 1) die 2) have to be shut off, box set to 0/0 and then the truck restarted.

I sent it back in and it was a bad harness.
