P0336 DTC Help

I'm new to using the TDR website so please bear with me. I have a 2005 that I bought new and tonight on the way home from work the engine check light came on. I have an EDGE Insight so I did a diagnostic check and this code, P0336 came up. The truck also became very "jerky" as I drove the ten miles home. I'm not a motor head kind of a guy but I can work through things. Does anyone have experience with this code? I also opened the hood to check things out when I got home and I noticed, on the drivers side of the engine compartment, what looked like diesel covering the fuel pump (?) and the shock spring and front suspension. Ideas of what is going on here?

Was the crankshaft position sensor / sensor connector wet with what you called diesel?
So what's going on there under the hood?
Diesel leaking from CP3 pump?

It may be the diesel leak. It was really late when I was fumbling under the hood last night. What really concerned me was the jerking of the vehicle as I was driving.
