I serviced my son's '21 truck yesterday including the CCV filter. He called me and said CEL came on. He had the code read and it was P051b. I reset service reminder for oil, fuel filters, CCV filter. It threw the code after he drove 50 miles.

Well. I went to my son's work and popped the hood to look around for something out of place. What I found out of place was the oil fill cap. It was laying on the bat wing next to the dipstick. Wiped the oil mist off the valve cover and closed the hood, Called the boy and confessed. Being in a hurry can cause you to forget things:rolleyes:

as a coworker used to say when prompted to hurry up by a supervisor " a good mechanic is a safe clean slow mechanic".. I figured it was something simple, didn't have any suggestions though.. glad you got it fingered out.

speaking of CCV codes, over the week my truck has been setting a code for the CCV reading intermittent.. I pulled the sensor out, cleaned it out with a little WD40 and air pressure, replaced the oring and have driven it several times and it hasn't reset a code yet.. I haven't driven it enough yet to consider it repaired.
