Getting worried about this. '08 mega. Any ideas on P063D?

Think is was back in August, ignored the "curly Q" wait to start as it was warm outside. The next start got the ETC (electronic throttle control). It went on/off a couple times over the next couple days. Did a couple hundred mile run and it was on just about the whole way there and off on the way home. Has been gone since until just the other day. Got new batteries 14 months ago - good ones. Terminals are tight. Now what? I cleared the code. Going to take it for a spin... not going too far as don't want to get stranded. Have searched the topic, and most recommend checking the battery, clean terminals, make sure they're tight. Truck starts fine, runs fine. Just hoping it's not the TIPM. Dealer is 30 miles away, could be an expensive tow. Does simply disconnecting the negative terminals reset something. Don't want any cheese with my wine but man..... thanks for listening.

I know you said the terminals are tight but pull the cables, clean the terminals and reinstall.

Check the ground wires and make sure they are clean.

Also, check the wire that runs from the ECM to the alternator and make sure it is not chaffed.

The ECM controls the voltage and sometimes that wire gets chaffed and causes this problem.

Also, is there anything else on the truck such as a snow plow, programmer (EDGE, Smarty)?

alan: thx will do. did fine on test drive yesterday. cleared code with smarty, only non-stock wired items are amp research steps & espar heater, & I enabled the high idle (green wire for g56) all been on a long time . am pretty anal about maintenance, only 47k and 3rd ccv, 3rd air filter, use napa gold 7620XE, grease the front drive shaft, change the diff fluid, and even replace the "whole" fuel filter canister just to make sure she's clean, clean map sensors, ----guess I need to add clean the batteries to the list of things to do. wiring is not my thang. suppose a voltmeter might be a good buy too.

anything to avoid another trip to the dealer

Since you cleared the code with the Smarty, you may want to contact Marco and tell him about the problem. He reads these posts but if you email, you will probably get a faster response. I'm not saying it's a Smarty problem, but Marco tends to have a lot of insight into stuff like this.

Alan: Cool, Thanks.
If it comes up again will do that. Haven't updated the smarty in quite awhile, but haven't had any problems. That was a possibility I hadn't even thought of.

got the etc light po63d again saturday - SOB - 100 miles from home in a snow storm. Reset the code and made it home, no light until got to the driveway.

After MORE research, hoping it's something to do with how I am using high idle and then maybe putting my foot on the brake before I take the high idle off??? Truck has G56. Is this possible? Will try taking high idle off THEN foot on brake, or just not using high idle for awhile.

It's a balmy 0 degrees here this a. m. Truck is getting on my nerves.

drove it yesterday, all good. finally got around to working on it. went to the zone & got the complete battery cleaning kit, terminal puller, extra felt pads, cleaner spray, the red protection spray, and a voltmeter. (unfortunately the puller only worked on 1 of the 4 terminals, need to find a bigger one). While removing the 4th terminal "+" noticed it was somewhat LOOSE and the amp research controller box was somewhat loose too. Batteries checked out @ 12. 7ish. SO lesson learned - check the batteries even if they look tight.
