Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) p1690

I can't get rid of a p1690 code. I had a p0216 (ouch) along with the p1690, 1693. I replaced vp44 due to dead pedal and p0216. After replacing the vp44 I still get the p1690 ( fuel injection pump CKP sensor does not agree with the ECM CKP sensor). I am using a Blue Chip FMS with stealth plate, SMARTY, and a FASS with 19psi. Any ideas??? My replacement vp44 is an II hr vp44.

Did you replace the cam sensor when you had the VP44 out? It is much easier to get at with the VP44 out, but my guess is the cam sensor. I had the 1690, and a bad VP44. I replace the cam sensor when I had the VP44 out, and the code did go away...

Look that code up in your Smarty manual. I'm pretty sure that is the companion code that is normal when running the Smarty. In other words, it is nothing to worry about if that is the one.

Tiger, I think the code your thinking of is a p602 if my memory serves me correct, I do get those. The code is: fuel injection pump CKP sensor does not agree with the ECM CKP sensor. Moose and Bob, is the CKP sensor a cam sensor?

I have an 02 which does not have a Crankshaft position sensor. Since the Camshaft position sensor is used to relate crankshaft position (NOW) is it safe to assume my CKP error code is really a CMP error code?

I just checked mine with the Smarty to see if I remembered correctly. I've got 602 which the Smarty says is nomal with the Smarty. I also have 1693 which states: DTC detected in companion JTEC. I think the book says this is also normal with Smarty. I also had 0236 "map too high too long". Not sure if I've had that one before, I can't remember. I know the 1693 is there usually and the 1690 I think is usually there but isn't right now. I'm guessing I might have tripped the map code at the drag strip the other night and I haven't driven it enough to clear it on its own yet. Hope this helps some, Matt

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I am still learning on the 24V I was a 12V owner about 8 months ago now have an 01 HO. My friend called me the other day he has a 98 24V and I think he is complaining about dead pedal. Runs fine and then while cruising down the road he gives it some throttle and nothing, push in clutch and wait 5-10 secs then okay. I pulled 5 codes P0500 vss,P1693,P0237,P0216,P0236 I am thinking injection pump he really does not want to replace it if it is not the problem. Any advice would be great. Truck only has 78000 miles.

p0236,p0237 are both map sensor codes. The p0216 is an injection pump timing failure code. The p0500 is a " No vehicle speed sensor signal. The codes are according to my 02 service manual. I would have your friend change his map sensor as a bad sensor can send a bad signal to the ECM resulting in bad fuel timing. Hopefully the bad map sensor is the cause for the p0216.

Failing that, The p0216 code is the end of the VP44. Have friend "DeBomb" his truck, and take it to the dealer, he still has 24,000 miles of warrantee. If he can't do that, then now is the time for a HRVP44! Have him call Industrial Injection or any one of the other vendors. Moose00
