I have a 2000 4x4LB, quad 2500 with a Banks power pack kit on it, and recently have the trans rebuilt (3 disk converter) locally here in Hesperia, CA. . I get an error code of P1740 , every couple of days. I have taken it back to the trans shop, and they keep replacing the "failed TCC or Overdrive Solenoid", and the last time (2 times total, need to go back a 3rd time), they said they replaced the "wire loom" also. I have a total of 3k miles on it since the rebuild. Does anyone have any intelliegent knowlege that I can share with the trans shop to tell them how to fix the problem, so that I don't have to keep bringing it back, just to have it fail again within a couple of days. I can't seem to feel anything wrong with the trans, except for the fact that the truck seems to Hang/ flatten out at about 3050rpm (out of fuel??), and then shifts at 3250 when "on it".

It is very common with an aftermarket torque convertor. The controller is looking for an rpm drop that it will not see due to the more efficient torque convertor.

I had that code plus others for six years on my DTT beefed transmission as well as the CEL light. If your CEL light is not on,feel blessed and enjoy your transmission. The only fix I came up with was black electrical tape covering the light.

Is there any thing that the trans shop can do though to stop it from happing over and over. If I drive with the light always on, how would i know when something else is wrong?

Some have had luck running a federal pcm. Everybody that mods a CTD should have their own scanner to at least keep an eye on things.

Bob, would it also be common, that when I am "crusing" through town, it will shift into 3rd, or od, and will lug around 1500 rpm, unless i really step on the gas, then it will down shift? Thanks for your help.

---By the way the TDR showed a way to check the code on my odometer, without using a scanner. Key on-off-on-off-on then push the odometer, and it shows the code. .
