Help! My wife's 2004 threw me a P2121 Code!

It wouldn't respond to the accel pedal being depressed at all, it idled along while in "D" and I pulled it over and turned it off for a minute. I cycled it on/off 6 times and got the code.

I turned it back on a few minutes later and it's okay drivewise, although the code is still there and the check engine light is still on.

What next?

I took out the EZ (which now my wife wants me to sell:{ ), took out the boost elbow, put the stocker back in and drove it down the road. Still have the code, but the "check engine" idiot light is now off.

I've told my wife it's safe to drive and I'll get the code cleared next week.

Whatchall think?

PS The Edge EZ will appear in the classifieds tonight. (Moderators, if you think this is innappropriate, feel free to delete that line)

The code shows to be a pedal position sensor. Might have something to do with the ez, don't know. I have almost 40k on my ez now and have never thrown a code or had any problems. Might just be a bad sensor.

I think the EZ was okay, but I stripped it out anyway, because my wife gave me grief over it and then freaked out when it acted funny and immediately blamed "the black box. " So, we all know where that goes... ... .....

I think it's the sensor myself, but I'll have it checked out and I guess, leave the EZ off forever. I guess it's her or the EZ... ... .....

I guess I better keep her!

Nope the ez is not ok, this happened to me also. Call Edge they'll send a new one out along with a RMA for the old one. Diconnect both batteries for 15 minutes and the code will clear

Makes sense. I shall call Edge tomorrow. My wife still has determined she shall have no "black box" on her truck. Geez, what does a guy hafta do to show her the way?

I'm still forced to sell it, so even if I get a brand new one or that one fixed, it will still be on the chopping block.

I'm going to go cry in a corner now.

Fitter48093,

I didn't think disconnecting the batteries would clear codes.

Does this work with all codes or just certain ones?

Thanks,

Ken.

What if you repainted the 'black box' a different color?

I think she'd like it once the bugs got worked out...

My GF would do the same thing... but I'd argue it to the point where she'd eventually give up. Just throw a bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo at her and she'll give up... :D

Matt

Why did you tell your wife about the EZ? How often does she look under the hood, anyway? Just put it on and don't tell her! Have your fun, you only live once.
