CEL came on yesterday and scanned codes P2201 & P2048. P2201 is a regular occurrence and comes and goes on its own. The P2048 is a new one and was accompanied with an EVIC message of 200 miles before limp mode. Some kind of DEF problem. I erased the codes with my scan tool. After 2 days of driving, neither code has returned. Because the 2048 reading didn’t return would this mean I don’t have to worry about the truck going into limp mode? Did an electronic gremlin cause an erroneous CEL?

I have been dealing with the P2201 for awhile ,I too cleared the code ,and CEL twice, only for it to come right back on after a few miles . Never did shut off on its own . After having a conversation with another member ,my issues with the P2201 could be the CCV filter being clogged up , I was nearly due at 64K . Changed the filter cleared the code ,and CEL . It's been about 900 miles now , but would not pass emissions , had four " Not Ready's " . After 500 miles it was down to two , getting better, but still won't pass with the two ,needs to only be one .

I too was hoping for a gremlin , but I am hoping now it was just that filter creating a false code . P2201 is the Nox1 upstream sensor, which are prone to go bad . Mine could possibly still be that ,but so far so good if the systems will finally clear. Mine also took a few days to come back on , until the filter change .

Batteries ok?

Mine ended up being the DEF pump. You can pull the DEF injection nozzle and make sure it’s not caked up and clogged. I needed up replacing the pump. No problems since. It’s hard to troubleshoot because it only comes on when required so it’s not like you can pull the nozzle and see if it is spraying. Good luck. Pump isn’t cheap. Requires you to have the Dodge fuel pump removal tool that you can get from Amazon. Get the heavy steel version because that dang thing is not easy to get off. Took a 1/2 inch pull bar with a 3 foot cheater pipe to break it loose.
