Got two codes this morning, P2380 and P2609. The P2609 seems to be related to the grid heater, I haven’t been able to find any info on the P2380 with a google search though. Anyone know what that code is for?

Thanks, Scott

Thank you for the reply sir. That certainly could be why I haven’t found much on it. Haha.

ScottRoberts, when you’re on that screen that shows you’re codes, can you click on the individual codes? On my CTS 2 I can and it tells you what each code is.

Yes sir, I can. It gave a description for the P2609, but not the P238D. I took the picture while I was sitting at a stoplight this morning and misread it, hence the reason I couldn’t find any info for it online. (Thank you JHenderson for asking that simple question) A google search shows P238D as a water in fuel sensor b circuit high. I cleared them when I got home and restarted the truck, the check engine light is off for now. We’ll see what happens in the morning.

Check the wiring on your water sep under the bed. The wires get bare right at the filter assembly and will sense moisture in the air or actual road splash and give you the warning. New water in fuel sensors have wires that are of much better quality. No too expensive so I bought factory Mopar.

This exact thing happened to mine. The wire coating separated right at the housing.

I bought a new sensor in January. It was cheaper than the filter.

I cleared the codes Monday afternoon, they have not returned so far. Thanks for the suggestion guys, I'll crawl under there this weekend and check the WIF sensor wiring.

This exactly......
I ran into an intermittent WIF light, but never received any codes.

I had to replace mine on my 2014 RAM 3500 around 207k miles, so it had been through a few filter changes.

The new sensor assembly is much improved.

The P2609 code is the one I received before the grid heater bolt melted itself under the intake. Definitely go get it checked out, there’s a service bulletin out for it now as far as I know, because if that grid heater bolt drops into the engine, boom. There’s a thread on here about this, and one on the “other” forum as well with information on what to look for.

Service writer called, said the intake air heater solenoid (I thought it was a relay?) is causing the P2609. I'm not even a month out of my 3/36 warranty and I had the truck up there twice in January before it expired, so that's a bit of a bummer. Apparently, it's not covered under the 5/100 engine warranty either, which he said only covers internal lubricated parts (anyone know if that's an accurate statement?). It is covered under my max care though, so I'm only out my deductible.
