2006 2500 5. 9 auto... I went to start my truck and it spun 8 or 10 times and didn't start, I let off the key and hit it again and it started right up with a MIL. I pulled codes with the key on/ off method and got a P2509. Light went away on second or third restart and hasn't returned. P2509, according to canobd2 website, is "ECM/PCM Power Input Signal Intermittent". Has anybody else had this pop up? I'm going out of town this weekend and need to know if it is something to worry about. This truck has been absolutely trouble free up until now. TIA!

Well, I have driven the truck all afternoon and it hasn't done it again. I did an oil change and checked the wiring over the A/C compressor, they must have changed the harness for 2006 because it doesn't look like it is near anything to rub on above there. All the grounds are tight. I guess I'll just run it and wait for it to screw up again.

Could just be a glitch in the Ignition switch.

Sometimes the contacts skip/lose signal output. This has been known to cause issue`s resulting in this type of error/glitch/anomalie.

If it happens again then I would take it to the dealer, but for now just monitor it and see how she functions. The GM trucks have major ignition switch failures. I have not found any TSB`s related as of yet. Keep an eye on it. :) Watch how you flip the key when starting it. If it re-occurs change your starting procedure and see if that make a difference. :D This will help when you take it in for repair. You`ll have some good info to relay to the tech. Save time, headache`s pain and misery.

Do all 2006 trucks have the ability to use the key on/off method to check MIL codes??

I have tried several times and used different sequences based upon different TDR members instructions and have been unable to bring up codes. Can someone tell me the correct method for doing this??

If some of the 2006s cannot be accessed this way, will someone please tell me what brand and type of scanner to buy to add to my tool box??

Thanks, Chuck
