After all weekend of running various tests and coming up with nothing. I believe my injector pump needs rebuilt or replaced Me and A buddy ran various tests My fuel pressure is good, We replaced the fuel lines the overflow valve is new. so is the lift pump. The DEALER I took it to before told me the over flow valve was bad So I replaced that. What the truck does is it starts in the morning fine you drive it about 10 miles then it starts running like it's missing then as soon as you let off the throttle to come to a stop it dies it will start right back up then sometimes when you go to put it back into drive it dies or will die shortly again the next time I come to a stop . When the truck starts acting like this there is a knocking noise coming from the injector pumping. Just want to see if anyone knows where I can get a reman pump or what a fair price is to have mine rebuilt.

One more thing I had the truck into the DEALER for the same suppose id tests. I just have one question do they have magic tools? I kept breaking the paint of all the bolts I touched. If they ran the same tests wouldn't they of already broke the paint off or maybe the $500. 00 I paid included repainting.

Piers has a decent price, you need to call and get the price though - 604 888 0057.

Might want to make sure your timing hasn't slipped first.

I've often wondered how some dealers can check things out/repair them without breaking paint also. Then one time I looked in while they were "working" on one. There were several "techs" in a circle around the open hood holding hands with a ouiji board, think they were having a seance.

Have you removed the fuel cap when it dies? If so, do you have a vacuum? If there is, check your vent on the fuel tank to see if it's plugged.

I pulled the fuel cap a no vacuum. I stopped by a local injector pump re-builder shop. Them seem to think one of my injectors is hanging up a blowing air back into the injector pump causing my stalling problem. So I going to pull the injectors and have them take a look at them. They don't think it's my pump there 2 reasons are the truck runs fine until it warms up and the truck only has 53000 on it plus I'm not blowing any smoke. They said if

I want I can pull the pump and they bench test it. Does anyone one else have any suggestions ? I'm willing to try any thing at this point.

P7100 PUMP PROBLEM

JUST RAN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM

YOU NEED TO CHECK TO SEE IF YOU ARE GETING AIR

IN THE FUEL SUPPLY, BY HOOKING UP A CLEAR LINE

TO THE SUPPLY OR THE RETURN HOSE , IF YOU

HAVE AIR GETTING IN THE SYSTEM I CAN HELP

YOU DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I JUST FIXED ONE

THAT HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS YOURS

CALL ME AT 586-612-5463

I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP YOU OUT.

I'm going to try and find some clear hose today to hook it up

I'll give you a call if I find air. Or see bubbles.

Steve P.

I finally got some clear hose to check for air but every thing looks good, no bubbles. The truck is still stalling out when it gets warm. I'm going and try pulling the injectors this weekend, and maybe the pump.

check the terminals on the fuel heater plug they get loose

& leak air . the terminals are on the suction side of the pump

check for fuel in plug connector. If their is wetness there

that could be your leak air bubbles don't show up right away

that is because when you shut your truck off the connector

fills up slowly with fuel & then it takes around 10 min to

suck the fuel out of the connector before it gets air in the system

loose terminals in the fuel heater caused the same symptoms

on mine !!!:)

I finally got my injectors out they checked out good. Now I'm working on pulling the pump I hope to find something there.

Bad p7100

Have you looked at the screen on the botton of the fuel heater some times it gets plugged and acts the same as you decribed also have you been putting any fuel lub in your fuel if not you need to

Hope this helps before you pull the pump

I checked the screen when I replaced the lift pump, it was clean. I've also have been adding stanadyne additive.

Just topic related, don't know if you have fixed your truck yet or not.

P7100's will wear out the barrels and plungers to the point that they will hang up after they get hot. Most of the time you can here them do it with an audiable ticking sound right at the pump. However, this normally comes right before the engine dies, then is difficult to start because it uses all of the fuel up from inside the injection pump. Also, once the ticking starts, moving the throttle pedal mill not change rpm, or rpm will remain at whatever level right before the ticking started. This condition is normally caused by a return line restriction, just FYI :)

Sounds like your mystery problem has been solved. I'm curious, how many miles do you have on your truck? How often was the fuel filter changed?

I know that the plungers can wear over time, but I was hoping it was something that happened after A LOT of miles.

Hope you are back on the road soon.

The truck only has 54,000 on it, it sat alot. I've only had the truck since Nov. From what I was told all the regular filter changes where done, I chaged it when I first got the truck . Thanks I hope by tommorrow evening I'll be back on the road.

mileage is too low

Sort of makes me wonder if the truck may have accidentally experienced a bit of gasoline in the tank or extended use of straight #1 diesel before you acquired it.
