How about someone post how the shutdown shaft on the P7100 actually works. Internal to the pump, NOT the shutdown solenoid. The shaft may turn but that dosn't mean jack#@$%!!

Pictures are better than words and an illustration or IPB from Bosch repair/overhaul manual would be the best#@$%!ever.

Internally, the shutdown lever takes the fueling rack to zero travel. At this point, the plungers are rotated to stop fueling through the barrels to the injection lines.

Good to know Joe, but how does it take it to zero travel?

The shudown lever turns the shutdown shaft that passes through the governer housing. The shaft is somehow attatched to a fork/spring mechanism (I guess) that pushes the rack full back. There is some resistance to rotation and some internal spring pressure on a properly functioning shutdown shaft when in the shutdown position. Which spring is this and what acts on it and how is it attached to the shutdown shaft.

I'll find out soon enough, but wanted to know before tearing the back of the pump off.
