I was installing the 1/8" pipe fitting in the intake manifold for a boost gauge when I noticed something odd? On the engine side of the injector pump below delivery valve #6 their is an OPEN HOLE #ad
that looks to be threaded for 1/8" pipe. Should this hole have a plug in it??? It appears to have been open for a long time due to the corrosion on the treads. I hope this condition will not have a detremental effect on the life of my $$$$. $$ pump?

Centerforce clutch is installed, cat's in the rafters, K&N air filter, gauges going in now, next month a nice HEALTHY fuel plate! #ad

Rebel,

I just went out and looked at mine. There is a clear plastic plug in the hole. Its knurled so it looks like it meant to be unscrewed with a thumb and forefinger. I cant get my fingers in there to unscrew it. I was going to pull it. It looks like a dust plug of some sort of a test? port for something.

My Cummins Engine Parts catalog is not showing a view of the pump from that side. The D/C srvice maunal won`t say anthing, they don`t want their techs touching it. Just R & R instructions.

HEMI®Dart, Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking of putting some sort of plug in this mystery hole. Was wondering if it needs to be vented? Anyone else have any input?

Looked at mine,no plug, has a bottom to it. I think it more than likely is for a bolt when the pump is used in another application.

Illflem, I believe you nailed it. I tried to start a 1/8" pipe plug in the mystery hole and it would'nt go. Mystery solved!
