Local injection shop told a fellow mech these pumps were locking up due to the present available fuel. Recommeded frequent use of additive. I have not personally seen any failures, and have seen lots of high mileage units. Has anyone seen or heard of this problem. I also have not seen any threads addressing this problem, so am hoping it is not true.

sure hes not talking about the vp44? the 7100 is iol lubed so i makes no difference on fuel pres. i dunno, just guessing. i rarely hear about a 7100 going out. mine has 240k+ on it and runs like a top. ive seen many over 500k. and some over 900k. i wouldnt worry about your 7100 one bit. and if it does go, get a stoopid pump ;) j/k.
