I have a 2003 6speed. I had a pac brake installed as soon as I got it. It has worked great every day till yesterday. I flipped the switch to turn it on..... nothing. Now today I turned it on, it goes on, when I tried to pull away from light it would not turn off. Any one ever have this problem, if so what was the cure? Thanks.

Sounds like a bad connection - maybe a poor ground? Does it have a plugin to the ECM?

Go back through the installation steps.

Mine used to do that every once in a while. I spray a little wd-40 on all the moving parts about once a year and it works flawlessly. 127,000 miles with it so far.

I am having the same problem with mine... ..... not sure how to check the old threads, but people here had a whole bunch of ideas on a post I submitted a week or two ago. I (of course) have not done a thing about it yet, but I'm thinking it's the vacuum cannister attached to the butterfly. It gets jammed open almost every time now. I watch the EGT's skyrocket as I try to pull over to pop the hood & jamb the valve back open..... I'm about to start ordering new parts. I've removed the entire elbow, cleaned/lubed all parts, removed the solenoid, cleaned/lubed all parts there too... ... . I'd love for one more idea before I have to pick up the phone & pull out the credit card... ... ... ... ..... ?

good luck ETurner..... if my little pac-brake faries arrive one night to attend to my rig, I'll send them your way next!!

Call Pac Brake and ask them how to test the vacuum cylinder. They were very helpful. I had to replace mine. It would not close and when it did, would not release. We first tested with a vacuum gauge to make sure we were getting apply and release vacuum. Then plugged both fittings in the cylinder. You should not be able to move the piston, butterfly disconnected.

Pull the relay on the compressor, mine went bad and fried it. It was all burned up and nasty inside, fixed under warranty.

Also try the oiling the moving parts as mentioned.

On mine It was the Vacuum switch. (TqT Tipped me off to this) We ripped it off the truck and we broke it down and cleaned the soot out of it. Lubed it up and back in it went with no problems ever scince. The solonoid was caked with soot.
