SHOCKING CLUTCH FINDINGS you have too see!!!

SMARTY and 6.7L.....

I have been researching several different exhaust brakes and I have come to the conclusion that I am going to get a Pacbrake PRXB for my 2002. Has anyone one installed one of these air-acuated in-line mount brakes with the air tank on 2nd gen??? How hard is for a average do-it-yourselfer? How much time should it take. The other option is I have a performance shop close that will install it for around $400... . which I would love to save and do it myself as long as it isn't over my head. I did install my own MBRP 4" exhaust so I wonder how much harder it would be than that. Also how do you guys like PRXB that have one?

Thanks,

Thad

If you have the stock turbo I do not think the PRXB is the right one for you. I had to go with the previous generation PacBrake, no problems. I love it. Works very well. ive member Jelag a PM he was very helpful.
It took me ~6 hours to get it installed. It would have been ~4 but I couldn't get two of the bolts off of the turbo. If you are going to do it I suggest spraying on some rust buster type lubricant the night before and again the next morning.
Hope this helps. If you would like pics I can post them.

Why do you think the older version of Pacbrake would be better than the PRXB? I keep hearing from others that it is the best. I thought it supposed to work better at lower RPM's?

Thanks,

Thad

I installed the PRXB on my 2004. It wasn't too terribly difficult. The only real challenge was getting the system tight enough together and stay there long enough to tighten the clamps.

Its easy..... :)

I did not buy the kit per say, I bought the parts minus the electronic controls and the air supply system. I did a custom air supply system.

Just for the brake itself, installation is basically SawsAll a chunk out of your exhaust pipe in a spot that everything will fit. Then install the PacBrake pipe ends / flanges then install the brake into that. There is enough leeway in the pipe ends that I had no worries about fit up. Then I just tightened the flanges to the brake then tightened the pipe end clamps to the exhaust pipe once everything was in place. Maybe 2 hours or so total to put the brake in.

I had a Banks turbo mounted exhaust brake previously. I removed it in favor of a 4 inch in-line / remote style PRXB. The PRXB works as good or better than the Banks.
