Does anyone have the pacbrake on their truck with an automatic?

Any mods to transmission?

I am considering one and would like to hear what the TDR has to say.

I believe that putting a exhaust brake on your automatic truck will void some warranty. I remember reading this somewhere. If you have to do it, contact DTT at the address in the above messages, Bill K. is the transmission master.

pacbrake

I agree with the above post. Exhaust brakes are not recommended for automatics, however if you go with pacbrake,be sure to use DTT's smart controller. It will save early wear on your torque converter. If you go with BD, be sure to also get the pressure loc. Personally. I would go with pacbrake as it really is a little more agressive and sounds soooo good!

One more thing, you will have to install 60 pound springs ( an added cost). That is true with either company.

Good luck.

Oh, more thing. Use the brake only when you need to. Don't just leave it on all the time. Just an added precaution.

The 60lb springs are only applicable to the 12 valve engine. It is my understanding that you can get a brake for the 30lb springs, but it is less effective.

The PacBrake, as I recall from the charts is not as aggressive as the BD for braking. (Charts showing all brakes and comparing effectiveness. ) The BD brake must be checked on ocassion for the correct pressures.

About a year ago, Dodge came out and said all exhaust brakes should be removed from the auto trannies. They worked out some deal with Cummins for a buy-back of their e brakes installed on the autos. They did not have control over other brands, such as BD, PacBrake, USGear, etc.

Any warranty is only as good as your dealer. Some honor them and some don't, no matter what you add or modify.

As far as the sounds... they all sound a bit different, and your exhaust changes that, also. I have seen many combos, and no two have been alike or sounded the same.

Choose wisely!

Just got my pacbrake. It comes stock with I believe 35 lb. back-pressure that will work with the stock valve springs. To go to the 60 lb. you have to buy a performance kit. It comes with the 60 lb. springs and a plug for one of the holes in the butterfly.
