PacBrake has sent all of its dealers a very significant price increase effective on all product shipped to us after 1 Jan 09... ... If you have PacBrake on your wish list... . you might wish to contact your friendly dealer before Christmas...

May the spirit of Christmas abide with you and bring you happiness and peace...

My thoughts as well. As retailers are scrambling to reduce prices to try to maintain their top line, this is an odd move. Attemps to increase their bottom line by raising prices is never a good long term term strategy - unless they were grossly miscalculating thier actual costs, what has changed?

Unless other exhaust brake manufacturers follow suit, PacBrake will be exposing themselves to savvy competitors jumping in and really catering to price-sensitive consumers... . and who isn't price sensitive right now??

Funny how I get this norification of a price increase the same day Fed-Ex notifies me of a price increase in shipping rates.

Personal opinion here ... not looking to debate, #@$%!no respons needed:-laf

Unfortonatly most things we buy are volume based. Walmart is a good example If they can sell 1000 tv and make 1 dallor per TV that is the same as selling 2 TV and making $500 each. They also know thoses 1000 people are also going to buy a few cords to connect up the tv and make 5 of each cord

2 cords X 1000 TV X 5 + 1000 off of the TV = $11,000 profit... compared to 2 cords x 2 tv x 5 + 1000 = 1020 profit. Its all a numbres game. And for manufacturing its at what point do I brake even and make money. Also most items are built over seas and the the American dallor low it just plain costs more USD to make.

Oil is a good example dallor went down oil went up, went to far up and people changed there ways, and BAM too much oil nobody wants it now. remember were talking 20 billions gallons a day, you stop using 1 billion a day for a week thats a lot of extra oil.

Anyways its too early

Oo. I would like to add my self to the Happy customer list, works great, stops the truck, brakes stil look new at 74,000 miles. with about 70% towing in city at about 26,000 lbs. :cool:

I don't know what this has to do with the price of tea in China?

I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that Pacbrake is a Canadian company and there has recently been a significant fluctuation in their currency relative to ours. Just a thought, don't know if that is the cause.

100 Proof

Point was there are lots of companies raising prices, lots of companies lowering prices and that there are 1000's or reasons why they do it. just trying to point out some of the reasons.

Oo. The start of this thread was "Hey price is going up if you want one buy it now for old price "Oo.

#@$%! and then a slam of hey nobody has money why raise it, you should lower it. #@$%!

I suppose my remarks aren't needed ... ... :-{}

Anyway I love my Pac Brake.

Merry Christmas :cool:

My PacBrake is awesome as well. If I never did anything to my truck, the PACBRAKE would be the only addition. It is awesome if you pull trailers at all. Brakes are still like new with 62K on the truck. Scotty

Amen on the PacBrake. This is the 2nd truck I have one on it is awesome for towing as well as just cruising w/o a trailer.

I would not have a truck without an exhaust brake.

I tend to agree with the Canadian dollar value as the main reason for a price increase.

Merry Christmas... ... ..... :-laf

Up,up,up!

Oil is decreasing but shipping costs are increasing? I just shipped some tires to a member to Ct. via Fedex. The attendant there said Fedex is slow as heck. Maybe they're trying to make up for low volume? USPS is raising their Priority Mail rates in January so mail all you can. Postage is going up in May so I'm going to stockpile "Forever" stamps in March.

I wasn't slamming anyone... . I just find it an odd business strategy. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm certain they know a lot more about their business than I do. I'm just sad that I can't take advantage of the current, "low" price! :{
