Hey guys, a few weeks ago I posted about my Pacbrake not releasing a few times, well I thought I fixed it (short of cleaning the pnuematic switch). It did it again, but I figured out when it does it, and only then, 1st and maybe the 2nd times I use it in the morning. I leave at 5:30 am in the morning and it's about 60 to 70 degrees. This morning she got stuck closed twice, first time it released after about 2 seconds, then it stuck one more time, for about 5 seconds, egts went up fast:eek: . Does this sound like a crudded up switch? I'm going to clean it right now, but is there anything else I should check? Thanks!

sticking switch

Hi Mr. K;

mine done the opposite, quit working, not the micro switch. had to clean the vacuum switch. not hard to do. they get contaminated and need a little help occasionally. check for free movement on the butter fly. may be some crud build up in the exhaust pipe, and the moving parts there of.

just my penny's worth.

ALOHA

Where are the lube points? I'm indoors right now so I can't picture where I saw it. Also Mlee, if there is crud on the butterfly valve itself, how do you remedy it? Or is there a way to prevent it from happening? I did see some black on the rod that goes in and out of the cylinder.

just requires some time and Diss-assembly/ cleaning the whole thing. thats what i did. yes the valve linkage don't recall if i done the cylinder

I did clean the vacuum switch, and oh boy, that was not fun! It's like one of those jobs where it's not difficult, but not fun. Anyone have advice how to remove those hoses that go to the switch? I had to cut the 2 smaller ones off! Do all the e-brakes use this switch?

Here's a tip I found out when I cleaned the switch. To push out the sleeve I used my NEXTEL i90 antenna, perfect fit! Anyway, what causes all that black stuff in there? So if you use the brake alot, it's better for the valve but not for the switch?
