My Pacbrake is sticking. It always turns on, but is sticking on. The go pedal switch is working properly and as far as I can tell the bd gearshift switch is working fine as well. It turns off when I get back on the go pedal after a few seconds, seems it's being forced off. I read some past threads about the valves getting clogged and need cleaning. I do use the pac every time I drive it, so lack of use is not a problem. I just installed it last summer.

One thing that I think may have happened is I washed the motor real good a month or so back to tab my kdp. I'm thinking I may have gotten some water into the solenoid? How do I clean the valves in the solenoid? TIA, Tim

BTW, I sent this same question to pacbrake yesterday and haven't heard back yet, just thought I'd ask the real experts...

it's the valve

Go to the Pac Brake site and download and print the cleaning instructions. You should also lube the shaft periodically.

I was having similar problems and lubing the areas mentioned on the pac-brake site didn't seem to be getting it done, so I took it to the shop that installed it originally and the guy started up the motor and then took some wd40 and using the switch that is mounted off the intake he sprayed right in the little openeing next to it. it looks like a little round piece of metal, mine was kind of a gold color, that moves in and out with the vacuum pressure. He said it would pull the lube into the inside area and lube it. I asked about it burning off but he said that it had always worked. Sure enough it did the trick I have had to redo it myself a few times but it is always good for quite a while after that. If I did not describe it well, just pm me and I will try and get a picture and show you. It is real easy once you know what you are looking for.

Thanks guys both of these scenarios fit my situation (after reading the maintenance instructions on the pacbrake site) I'll get it lubed up. I do use it every time I drive it, but I work at home and it gets out once a week usually.

My Pac Brake used to stick on in cold weather only. I had to take the vacum seloniod apart & clean & lube it & have'nt had any problem in about 2 years. Rick

WD40 is NOT a lubricant. It's a Water Displacement compound. The 40 is because the guy that invented it tried 40 compounds until he got one that would work. Use some thin lubricant like LPS#2. Mine stuck a couple of years ago. Maybe longer than that. I took the valve apart and cleaned it. Then lubed it with LPS#2. It's been working ever since. I've taken my valve apart a couple of time to clean it but it has never needed it since I lubed it.

It REALLY smoked up Broadway in Eureka when it stuck. I don't want that to happen again.

Thanks for the pic, I ended up talking to a tech at Pacbrake and he explained basically what you all had talked about. I had a hard time finding "high temp lube" so I ended up with some white lithium grease in the spray can. I sprayed where your picture describes as well as where the shaft goes in through the butterfly valve. Not sure which did it, but it's working good now. Thanks for the help. :D Tim
