Ready to install one and need to decide to do it myself, or hire someone to install it.



For those that have installed their own brakes, how difficult was the job and can you do it in a day in your garage?



What should I expect to pay to have a pro install it?



I've read the directions many times and it seems relatively straight-forward... I thought that I saw a video on the installationon youtube at one point, but I can't seem to find it now.

I did mine, pretty easy, just make sure the wires in the PCM are fully inserted, mine weren't making contact and it took a bit of troubleshooting, I think the whole install took abiut 3 hours, congrats on the purchase you will love it!

i only had an issue, when hooking the exhaust back up to the exhaust brake. I jot my neighbor to help lift it then it lined up.

it is easy, i have installed both pac's and bd's in about two hours. if the pac compressor is still engine mounted move it somewhere else. i use a strap to suck the exhaust up to the elbow rather than trying to find a helper

3hrs here too.

mine was the type that is in the elbow, hardest part was connecting the pipes back.

compressor lasted about 3 yrs, replaced with bigger one mounted under BIG bumper.

the accuator is wearing out at the pivot points, be sure to keep it lubed there, I wish I did.

Installed mine in a park, with limited tools and limited help. but I had my own source of air allready. It was just the brake portion, maybe 2 - 3 hrs... Simple job.

I didn't think it was that easy. It took about 5 hours to install mine. Hooking the exhaust up to the elbow took the longest. There's a lot of plumbing and electrical to this installation. I don't see how anyone could install it in 2 to 3 hours.



It sure works great, I love it. I run the PacBrake fulltime.

As far as the compressor dyeing its not the gratest, lasted me about 3 years, then once it started blowing the fuse I pulled the head off, flipped the piston over, put some oil on the seals and was running it another 2 years when I got rid of the truck.

I installed mine in about 3 hours, very straightforward easy install. My compressor died at the 5 year point a few months ago, was easy to get a replacement on-line. I have been very satisfied with the PacBrake perormance.
