Given the fitment issue illustrated below, is there possibly a different oil filter for another application that has the same gasket size, same screw on thread size, that is smaller in diameter? Maybe 1/2" to 3/4" smaller.... Even if it was a little less capacity, it might work. The filter I tried on mine would clear the hose on the left and right, the third was the issue.

This is if you want to change the filter and pull it out through the fender liner access hole on a 2014??

I can call Fleetguard in the morning and see if there is a smaller diameter filter with the same attributes.

Mike.

I'd be absolutely sure you weren't voiding the warranty with a different filter. You'll become your own warranty station if you give ram an opening!! Might be worth the effort to fight with the filter once in a while rather than chancing a battle with ram, if there was to be an issue. They'd certainly blame you for engine problems with the wrong filter on.

Yea, I sort of thought of that after I posted the idea....... I drove my 2001 for 14 years, haven't had to think about warranty implications for years, got to start thinking differently now. I spent part of today rolling around on my creeper, under the truck, getting the lay of the land. Things are way different than my 2001, that is for sure. Pulling the air cleaner looks pretty simple anyway. Plus, I got lifetime oil changes from the dealer so in a way, it may be be a non issue for me. But I have to admit, I've been doing my own changes for about forty years, not sure how I feel about someone else doing it.
