Hi just looking for suggestions on which fuse is best used for the fuse tap or if someone has a better suggestion. I just want to do it as clean and (pardon the pun) "painless" as possible. I purchased the weather resistant one with seven
circuits. Any suggestions are appreciated. thanks

On my '06 I used the cigarette lighter power for the keyed signal and took the hot directly from the stud on the TIPM.

I would highly suggest you stay far from the factory accessories.

This is why they offer the separate up fitter controls as an option.

Tap the power point (cigarette lighter) in the center console for the trigger source for the Painless. Works good and is not computer controlled. I connected the Painless supply wire directly to the driver's side battery.

Not sure how you’re under hood fuse panel is set up, but on my 2013, the fuse for the rear seat cigar lighter has two places to be plugged in. You can have it always hot or triggered by ignition simply by moving the fuse to the left or right. I have my cigar plug hot all of the time, and trigger a solenoid for my switch panel plugged into the ignition circuit right next to the fuse.

Another option is this from Genos Garage

I have one on my 17 doing the same thing you are looking for, so far it has worked fine for me. I wanted to keep it completely separate from the truck computer/s. Had I known about the cigarette lighter (though I don't have a cigarette lighter just a 12 volt power plug) I may have used that instead if I could verify no computer interaction.

I used a jumper harness I made from the fuel Pump Hot wire BC the additional power is used for Auxiliary lift fuel filtrations. As others suggested the Lighter/12v supply would work.

I used the 12v lighter plug tap also for my Painless block
