I will be installing a PW cirkit boss and have a few questions. I have read the article in the TDR #26 and did a search but still need some infor.
-In the TDR article, they have a picture of the #10g wire going into circuit breaker to battery but there's also an in-line fuse. Is this neccessary?

-The cirkit boss comes with 7 circuits, 4 ignition and 3 constant. What do these mean?

-And finally, when hooking up accessories (backup lights, fog/driving lights, air horn etc. ,) which wires off the PW do you use (ignition or constant)?
Thanks in advance for your help. I sure ain't no electrial guru.

#1- The fuse is necessary, that amperage thru 10 ga. wire shorted out could start a fire.

#2 Ignition side of circuit goes off with the
key, protecting against dead batteries from something running all nite.

Constant does not turn off with key, like playing a radio with truck not running. Constant overnite use will kill battery.

#3 Lights and air horns you want to run with the key on- hook up to the ignition side.

Happy BOMBing #ad

Deezul Doug, thanks for the reply. Another question, does this PW only support seven accessories (one per wire)?

As far as I know they still have something over there but not sure what. Haven't been down on that end of base in a while. Most of the comm schools are at 29 Palms.

Yes, it SHOULD be just one accessory per lead, but you CAN double up and put 2 on each
as long as the combined accessories doen't have a huge draw.

slowneasy,

I installed the 10 ga. wire to the PDC (with the in-line CB) and used a LittleFuse Tap at #16 (spare) on the Fuse block.

Some don't like the fuse tap method and would rather center splice the PW relay wire, but I like it #ad

You can see photos in my signature link: BigDaddy's Ram, of the LittleFuse Tap. Good Luck #ad

BigDaddy,

Hey, that's a good photo of the fuse panel. You have macro-zoom on your digital camera?

Did you have any trouble getting the Littlefuse Add A Circuit to fit in your fuse panel without some alterations on it? I had to carefully file down the black plastic portion of the Add A Circuit to get it to fit in the fuse panel. Other than that, it works great. I also used one to light my gauges on circuit #7 so the gauges would dim with the dash lights.

Bill,

Thanks, but no macro-zoom. It’s a Ricoh RDC-2 with just two settings, normal and wide angle. Two years old. It does take a nice picture, but eats batteries like mad.

I had no problems inserting the LittleFuse however, you make the second person to tell me they have had trouble #ad

Thanks for the tip on using #7. I am planning to go with SPA gauges and I don’t think I have that option. What gauges are you using?

Joe
