I am preparing to install the Painless Wiring Kit. Where is the best place to mount the unit. I have the waterproof version so location is not really a problem. I read in a few searches that some are mounting the unit under the drivers seat. Where and how is it mounted under the seat? At this point I think that I will be installing it on the driver's side firewall near the brake master cylinder. How about the switched 12V lead. Is a fuse tap off of the fuse block good or would a soldered splice be better? If so which wire?

I would appreciate any input or photos that anyone has of their installation. I want this to be a professional looking as possible.

Sorry for this being such a long post.

P W Mounting

Even though my P W was also the waterproof version, I mounted it behind the drivers side knee panel. I ran the 7 circuit wires to a custom switch plate (with seven illuminated rocker switches) which I fastened to the knee panel and the panel just to the right of it. Then I routed the switched circuit leads back out into the engine compartment (except for the ones I used for my gauges).

There was a black w/orange stripe wire behind the fuse panel that was a switched 12v supply which I used to power the relay on the PW module. Personally, I don't like fuse taps.

I installed mine just to the right of the steering column behind the knee panel. The wiring kit should have instructions detailing this. I used a wire at the column which had power when the key was on. Cant remember the color. I used a scotchloc for this wire. All my other wiring connections are soldered.
