Belt Grinder build

Rotary Brush or Sickle Mower?

Any ideas on priming/painting graphite reinforced fiberglass? This has a slick outside finish and a porous filler, inside. Thanks in advance. GregH

You might have to scuff the surface a bit, unless that would ruin the effect you're looking for.

To substantiate what Kenny says, I have found the local Sherwin Williams employees to be remarkably knowledgeable of the SW product line and it's various applications.

Kenny61, The project is not quite at the stage where I absolutely gotta have it now. I'll need to schedule a day to go down to the paint store to get the materials. In the meantime, I have more prep and mechanical work to complete before I do the Paint. BTW, this is not a vehicle. I'll post in the appropriate forum, when I get it completed. Been working on this for a few years. Thanks for asking. GregH

You need to scuff sand the "slick" areas. It's doesn't take much and i would use 320 grit to scuff. A good couple or three coats of polyurethane primer (if that is still legal) and a few coats of paint. It doesn't matter if it's on the ground, air, or water as long as the prep work and painting is done right with the right materials. Sometime I miss painting those aircraft.

FinishMaster

Went to town today with the painting project in mind. The store specializes in Pittsburg Automotive paints. While I did not decide on a finish color/s as yet, I did get the primer. Omni MP-282/MH283 is a gray Ureathane two component, high build primer/surfacer. The counterman tried to talk me out of this product and use a cheap laquer primer and finish coat sold at the local auto parts stores. I said that I did not want to redo this project every few years. Application requires a temperature of 70*F. which I cannot do until the weather warms up a bit. So we wait again. In the meantime, other areas require attention to complete this project. GregH
