2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Paint peeling in the tailgate area.....

Does anybody else have this problem?? with the tailgate open, so that the latch area is showing, I can take my fingernail, and flake the paint away with very little effort. The truck is Emerald green with the Silver bottom. It looks as is the green is sprayed over the silver and did not adhere... ANY IDEAS???

As long as you can't see it with the gate closed... . Chrysler had quite a few paint problems with certain colors. In this area they were the worst of the big three in doing anything about it! The Ford and Chevy body shops were very busy doing repaints under warranty. Not very good ones I might add!

My 96 is silver and the hood and tailgate the paint is peeling off, silver has been a bad color from day one. Time for some repainting this summer.

My Silver is fine. . it where they sprayed the emerald green over the silver

Mike, touch it up with clear nail polish to prevent more flaking or chipping.

Well right now I have a friend at the dealer looking to see if there is any kind of recall on paint in that area, if that dosent work out, when My Buddy sprays my Cowl hood I am gonna have him spray the latch area.....
