my truck has 8500 miles on it,we havent even had it a year yet,and my first good cleaning of the outside has me wondering what they are painting these trucks with.

It is brite white and all over the paint(worse on tailgate)is these little pinholes or rust they are everywere on the truck. Not scratches but tiny pinholes, but rust is in the holes, has anyone else seen this?

What is the dealer going to say when I show them this?

I have seen this on like a 92 Mustang with 150000 miles on it but not on a new truck, some spots you can see where the rust has run down the paint.

I havent tryed to get it off cause I want the dealer to see it,any advise or opinions may be helpful. . thanks

I'll tell ya what they said to me "Rail Dust" I had an 04. 5 for 9 months and the last three it sat at the dealership being repainted, buffed and painted again, bumper to bumper , do not let them repaint your truck unless you can bear seeing your brand new truck look like it was painted with KRYLON. Make them clean it with "clay magic" first and foremost. I wish you the best of luck in this situation Chrysler stuck me with a bondo buggy from day one, and in return I gave it back to them in return for a DAYTONA EDITION :-laf

My wife just bought a new Chrysler Sebring convertible and the finish of the paint was a joke! (Deep Sapphire Blue Pearl) Looks the same as Patriot Blue on the Dodge truck! Might I also mention that the windshield was warped and needed to be replaced. I took the car back to the dealer, (the same place I bought my last 2 CTD's) and they sublet the car to a local glass shop and they put in a new windshield (orig equipment) and next, it went to a high end paint shop across town where they performed magic. The paint is now smooth as silk and no orange peal. The water also runs off when it hits! Finally, I feel I have 95% of what we paid for. Im still waiting for the College grad rebate that the dealer can't seem to figure out how to submit

I forgot to add, they didnt repaint, Im not sure what it was that they used but, I think it was that "clay wax" or something like that. I let them know I would not except any swrill marks from a buffer. I think the car looks great now! Oo.

I am going to take it in tomorrow to see what they say, they body shop manager is a good friend of mine, but I know it wont be his decision.

It is a real sickening thing to see a beautiful truck sitting there with this problem.

It is rail dust or industrial fall out. Clay Magic is the trick. No need to paint, in fact don't let them if they want to. If you live near a industrial plant that emits acid or particles, it will do it again unless you keep it clean and waxed. Actually there is nothing wrong with your paint, it is foreign material etching it's way into the surface. they usually only take care of it when it is brand new, and the fallout gets there while in transit or storage.

Rail dust is there and noticable withen the first week or less. Afterwards its as sag2 said. Its a fallout from somewhere. Usually only on TOP surfaces as it dosen't adhere to the straight up and down sides etc.
