Where should I go to get paint the same color as my truck. I want to paint my aux. fuel tank to match my truck. My truck is graphite metallic (dark gray). Any recommendations are appreciated.

Any good, reputable local paint and body shop should be able to handle the job without a problem. I would check around and look at some of the work they've done.

Generally any larger parts stores like napa and mr automotive carry paint and can mix to match your factory paint code.

The question being is do you have the equipment to do this your self? Are you planning on doing a single stage or a two stage (base/clear) . If you don't allready have the equipment to paint it your self you may be better off just going to a local body shop and paying them to do it, they should be able to give you a qaulity job for a very reasonable price considering the liimited size of the item. Just my ten cents. Seth

Dear mgoncalves

You will have to use a two part epoxy paint! If you do not use this type of paint, the fuel will make the paint peel right off the tank!! My father and I use this type of paint to paint tractor hoods and sheet metal around the fuel tanks. The paint has a special bonding compound in it !!!!

Take your truck to a good body and have them do at lease a two stage paint job !!

I hope this help out

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if there was a better place to buy paint than the parts stores. It's been about 4 years since I last painted a vehicle and I was hoping maybe there was some new internet company or some place like that with cheap paint. I am going to paint it as if it were any other part of the truck, it won't get much if any fuel on it and the clearcoat should be plenty of protection. I have enlisted the help of my dad for this coming weekend, he is a pretty good painter and should be able to help me remember how to paint:) .

Thanks again

Matt
