The compound a lot of body shops and the dealers use is called "PERFECT-IT" Foam Polishing Glaze. MAKE SURE you get the LIGHT OR DARK for the color of the truck and wash off the residue after you finish.

Made by 3M available at refinishing suppliers, one bottle will do the truck 4-5 times and leaves a great finish. #ad

What about the brake fuild ?Iput two cups in every laundry load,3 for the really tough stains-it even takes out marine grease! No really, try a little Liquid Wrench on a rag it took the diesel stains off my truck(driftwood)without harming anything, works good on tar also.

I've seen that on more Bright White Rams than you can imagine. When I was looking at new Rams in '98, I saw a new 2500 12v CC 4x4 SWB, Bright White Sport Ram with the familiar stain... and this was on the dealers lot with less than 100 miles on it! You can easily remove the black soot stains, it's the tan/brown stains that are extremely difficult to remove. Scott, you either need to reposition your exhaust tip or extend it. I have never seen stains on Rams equipped with the BD turn down style exhaust tip installed. Just my observations.

John... its not the exhaust that is causing the problem. It is the actual diesel fuel... spillage. I caught the first splash from the tank at a truck stop and immediately wiped it off but the 'runs' where already embedded into the paint. Yellow streaks of fuel running down the fender. This upsets me as I shelled out the money for the paint sealer from Dodge under the impression that it "will not stain" as quoted by the folks.
I will deal with that when I go there next week.

I had a turned down pipe for my exhaust and did not like the results as it seemed to redirect the exhaust to the tire more then the straight tip I had on my 98', so I switched to a straight 5" tip and now the exhuaust clears away much better. Also, I have much less smoke on the 2001 with mods then I did with my 98'. EH

Hey Scott, not long after I purchased my Ram I purchased a trick little rubber device (kind of like a childs bib) from Griot's Garage ( www.griotsgarage.com ) for $12. 95 that slips over the fill neck, beneath the fuel cap. When you open the fuel door the rubber "bib" sort of rolls out to provide a means of protection against any fuel that might be spilled. With the "bib" in its extended position, verticle ribs in the rubber keep any spilled fuel running straight down, and off, falling harmlessly to the ground. Little rubber extension "feet" on the back side keep the rubber "bib" away from the paint, molding etc.

With that explanation, it would've been easier to just get one and send it to ya, eh? LOL
