Im going to get the hood of my truck painted. The rest of the truck is good, but the hood is terrible. Anyway, I noticed yesterday that the top of the cab is also in bad condition. Not as bad as the hood, but not great. Anyway, here is my question. You cant see the top of the cab so if I didnt paint it, no one would notice. So, if I were to just get a can of clear coat and spray that on, would it keep it from getting worse and stop any rust that might some day appear?

Yes as long as you prep it well. I will be searching the roofs from now on . Why not just do the roof also ?.

Still have my 2nd gen 12-valve and decided to spruce it up. Got a quote for a full repaint and they want $4,500

Got it out on the road a couple of weeks ago and was enjoying the 12-valve purr, hit a pothole and a chunk of the dash plastic on the passeger side that surrounds the air vents by the cubby/tray, just shattered and fell into the dash innards. Appears to be part of the lower dash, can't find that part called out separately so i guess the way to replace it is to put in full lower dash. Might be able to patch it with something more durable, like toilet paper maybe Grrrrr
