How did you hear about TDR

Does anyone play paintball? My inlaws just caught the fever, and are now egging me on to buy a gun. I'm looking at a Tippman 98 custom, and a pro custom. Besides the double trigger, is there anything else different? Anything better for around the same price?

What about face masks? Any good ones for $30 and less?

Any place good to buy online?

Thanks.

Ahhhh! Paintball! I take it you have played before? There are so many choices it really comes down to what you want to pay. Tippman makes good stuff. My uhhh, "professional" paintball (pepperball) guns are all Tippman carbines with a different logo on them. Never have any problems with them. If you have a paintball shop locally, visit them and see what they can do. I am a big proponent of supporting the local merchant. Do you want basic, semi, full auto, carbines, 'long range'? How much are you going to play? A5 Stealth is impressive, never used one though. I realize this reply isn't any help at all, just had to respond.

Are you sure you ready for what your going to get yourself into,,,,, I cant play enough it's great.

I wouldnt buy a gun other than a tippman! you cant beat them for the money!!!!!

I would check out a few websites for combo deal's or package deals.

www.paintballwizard.com

www.888paintball.com

Ive delt with both very good to deal with.

here is my marker and mask

Tippman A-5RT with stock and flatline barrel, 15 round's a second at 290fps Oo.

V-force Morph Mask which I love

#ad

when ever you buy, I would also get a couple extra tanks, a good 4-1 or 6-1 pack depends on how many extra round's you want to carry, and a remote line!

thanks for the help guys, what is the major advantage of the A-5 over the Custom Pro?

I've been researching for about 3 days now.

Yes I've played, several times, just ready to stop browing a gun, and buy one. What ever I do get I want a double trigger, and later down the road a flatline for it.

When I bought my A-5 the biggest thing I liked about it was the indexing ball loader. Instead of a gravity feed it has an indexing wheel in the hopper that loads balls one by one. It'll load balls as fast as you can yank the trigger and I've never had a problem chopping balls, in fact the only time I had a problem with breaking balls was when I was using some el cheapo paint balls that a buddy bought. The other plus with the ball loader setup is it keeps the hopper off to the side instead of on top of the gun. I haven't played in a while but this is giving me the itch again.

Have fun,

Mike

like said above, the auto-feeder is the biggest thing I like about the A-5, mine has the RT trigger and I love it, I had a double trigger on it before and I took it back out didnt like the feel of if it with the RT, and since you said something about a flat line, buy the A-5 the flat line barrel for the A-5 will support the high firing rate, unlike the 98 with high fire rate balls will break in the barrel ive seen this first hand.

PLUS,,, THE A-5 JUST LOOK'S BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another problem with the 98 is if you get into a high output game you can freeze it up also. The Pro Carbine will not freeze up on a high output game. I have frozen down a few 98 players over the years. :)

Check your local fields. If they are semi auto only. A Pro Carbine or a A5 with a flat line is your best money buy's. Also the 98 and the Pro Carbine need better barrels. Stock tippman barrels for both markers leave a lot to be desired.

I prefer barrels in the 12 to 14" range.

I played 13 years straight every other week. Then I slacked off and now I only play once or twice a year.

My dad saw an ad for one in Popular Mechanics or something like that. It was cut out of the magazine but I read it. It is a standard paint ball gun but uses a spark plug and propane in a combustion chamber. The propane is $9 for 16 ounces, is good for 50,000 rounds, as opposed to CO2 or whatever the other ones use, which is 12 ounces (I think) and good for 1,000 rounds or something. Something to look into. It is more of a pistol style and is $230 I think.

Just thought I would let you guys know!

Nick

Well I ended up getting a brand new A-5 off ebay for under $200, plus shipping. Not a bad deal. :D

I will put a double trigger on it, and a 14" barrel later down the road, just not sure as to what kind yet. I might put a cocker barrel adapter on it, seeing as how there seem to be more choices for barrels for them. I will also put a new front grip on it, as I don't like how short the current one is, plus I don't like it's feel.

Fun times are coming. Oo.

good job,,,, I have a 14 barrel your more than welcome to it, ill let it go for a few buck's, I wont use it again since I have my FLATLINE.
