Painting chrome?

Is it possible to repaint my chrome stack to black? If so, how?

I don't want to get a new one as I like the size and shape of mine, it just has a lot of wear and tear. Plus, I think it'd look really good black.

I'd like to do this on a budget (like most other things :-laf), so suggestions toward that end are appreciated. Of course, I also want it to last and look professional. Yet another case of having my cake and eating it too...

I think if you scuff it up with sand paper really good I think it should work out pretty well Prep is the key when you are doing something like that

I have painted chrome bumpers in the past with good results using a good etching primer. But there is no heat involved..... so that being said it can be done.
