lET ME SAY FIRST OFF i LIKE THE MONOCROMATIC LOOK.

Has anyone painted thier door handles on a 3rd gen truck to match the color of thier truck. I was thinking about doing this. I pick up my "600" friday and this is one of the many things on 'THE LIST".

Any comments on paint, prep, or other experiences doing this to other vehicles.

I am doing it very soon. My buddy with his 3rd gen lifted 8" with 40 " MTR's has them painted to match and it look 5x better. I am also painting my bumpers and front side of my tow mirrors. I wil have the first patriot blue SPORT :)

Prep is everything. Use a filler primer to fill in the texture and sand smooth. Then one coat of body color and one or two coats of clear. I thought about painting mine, but I found some billet aluminum door handles and went with those instead. I did paint the little black piece at the base of the antenna and the plastic valve cover cover. Both pieces look as smooth as the body. I'll get some pics and post them in Reader's Rigs when I get everything put back together.

Well, you can do the body filler to smooth it out, but i would not reccomend it beuase it has a chance to crack off later. a high possiblity. Well you must use plastic prep which basically etches the plastic and then a can of fleixble plastic primer. Then paint and clear over that. Otherwise your paint will peal off in no time. Local body stores carry the stuff and a company called SEM sells it

I see that stylinconcepts.com has some full billet aluminum replacement handles (replaces handle and handle bucket). They are price at $250 or something around there a pair.

Anyone have a set? I'd like to see a set up close.

TBrennan, I also saw those handles. I think they would look very sharp but $500 total for door handles; OUCH! Not sure if I could do that.

Jeff, are those the same handles you're buying? What price are you paying? Just curious. Thanks.

door handles, tail gate and mud flaps are painted body color. integrates well, especially on non-metallic colors. check my gallery pic

Your door handles look great. Now that's what I'm talking about.

How did you paint them? Did you do it yourself?

EBottema, I said filler primer, not body filler. Two different things. Filler primer fills in the texture so that it doesn't show through the paint.

TBrennan and jlasich, those are the handles I have. I also got the tailgate handle. 600 for a five pieces. Pricey I know, but I like them. They are very well made. I'll get some pics up by the weekend.

Go to a Jeep dealer and look and see what door handle colors they have. The grands have the same handles and are painted...

better yet, stay at the Dodge dealer and check the handles on Caravans. The painted handles on my dad's 01 Grand Caravan appear to be the same units as 3G Rams - and many of the paint colors are the same.

handles

I picked up my new "600" from Tomeygun Yesterday. We walked across the street and looked at the door handles. It looks like Jeep Grand cherokee and Jepp Liberty handles are the same as our Dodge Ram handles. Now we need to find out if any of those other models come in any kind of color options for the door handles. I'm looking for Red. Then will see how much they are.

Conrats. How long from order to delivery? Also, how did you manage to drive back from St. Louis to here (east coast) since yesterday?

I think the body color door handles look good also. My better half has them on her Intrepid.
