Painting Fake Wood Grain Dash Bezel On '06

Can you re-paint the fake wood grain dash bezel around the radio on a 2006?

Not too sure about painting it, but IMO it's one of the worst looking dashes I've ever seen. I changed mine out with the silver bezel out of an '07. I also changed the door panels, looks 100% better.

I see no reason it can't be painted. Rough up the surface before painting, though.

I was told, by a body shop/ customizer, that it won't work. Too smooth, kinda like painting chrome. It would probably peel off in time. I went with a carbon fiber look overlay. I love the way it looks now.

you could paint it. It's not a piece that will receive a lot of abuse, so it shouldn't peel or chip. sand it and scuff it good. Use a good primer, and then several coats of your base color. you might even want to throw a clear coat on there too. Depends on if you want it shiny or not. You could always buy a bezel off of ebay too, i got mine for $60. What radio do you have? I have a 07 silver bezel for the non-navigation radios I could sell. Let me know, I could post up pics.

I just have the basic radio with sirius or xm. My truck is red, so I was wanting to paint it red or at least black. I kind of would like to have it shine. I figured I would use SEM and scuff, prime, paint and clear coat it real good.
