I got the idea from member hickory to paint the plastic valve cover. I thought I would share my results (provided that I have figured the image posting)

I used Rustoleums new plastic primer as the base and then added the metallic rustoleum silver. Finished of the letters with a paint pen found in any hobby shop. I am anxious to install it tomorrow. :D:D :D

I like the red that Hickory painted his but they did not have Metallic Red at Home Depot. I think I will change the word Dodge back to the orginial red lettering.

thanks

cool..... now i think i need to jump on this bandwagon... :D:D:D gonna go all blue i think, with black lettering i think, and take all them decals off... need to go see what colors are avalable now...

Would it be better to use that high temp paint that is used on motor blocks? Becuse when I was installing the gauages the other day I notice that the paint on the C and Cummins logo was allready peeling off, I could rub some flakes off with my finger. I was thinking about painting it to (I wonder what a flame job would look like on that cover) but wasnt sure if just reguler rustoleum would work and not bake off. Also did you just tape around the warning stickers or take them off and put them back on?

Justin I taped around the warning stickers and the engine specs. I should have takin the one sticker that has the bar code off but maybe another day.

In regards to the paint choice, I don't know if the high temp paint would be better or not. I don't feel it is necessary and I think it will be fine with time. (My 9 cents worth) Heck worse case scenario is that I repaint the thing. Total time was less than 2 hrs.

It doesn't get very hot on the valve cover compared to the rest of the engine or the cheap plastic would melt.
