Digital TV Question

Towing mileage

I assume this is not very common practice, but has anyone changed the color of their RV/trailer interior walls? The walls inside my 98' 5th wheeler are not very eye appealing and the decor is being changed soon. What kind of paint should a person use to change wall colors? I want something that will stick and not peel off after 2 years of use. I would also be interested in what kind of chemicals should be used to prep the walls for painting.

Why not change the color and patterns of your wall covering with wallpaper? All the big box home supply stores have hundreds, perhaps thousands of colors, patterns, and fabrics to choose from. The new wallpapers are of good quality, easy to install, and are self-adhering.

On one of our past trailers, we just painted the walls with regular interior house paint. No prep other than brushing off the spider webs.

That actually sounds like a more achievable idea! I like the fact that it doesn't require messy paint and long drying times. I plan to use the travel trailer in 2 weeks. I will check Lowe's or the Home Depot for a selection. Would you recommend anything for wall preperation?

I was shocked today to find out that the big box stores no longer carry wallpaper!!! I checked Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Home-Depot, and ACE Hardware. Nothing! I asked a store rep each place I went... ... ... . same story: "wallpaper is now obsolete, and we no longer carry it". Maybe now I have to buy online to get what I want? Any other suggestions?

The interior walls of my 5er have a wallpaper covering on each wall with a 12" or so wallpaper band in the middle of the wall for some color splash.

If it were me, I would only remove the wallpaper band (these come off very easily w/o trying) and then just paint with some good quality interior paint. I personally would use egg-shell or something with some sheen to it because these tend to be a higher viscosity than flat paints and wont bleed onto other surfaces as easily.

"Mocha" or "Latte" is the new "antique white"... :-laf

For prep, I would just make sure the cobwebs are removed and use the blue masking tape to protect the surfaces you don't want to get paint on. (I can't paint a straight line... )

Let us know how it turns out and take some before and after pics.

Please forgive my ignorance. I'm not into interior decorating so had completely missed the new decorator trend. I'm clueless. I guess I'd try asking a woman behind the counter in a paint store like Sherwin-Williams or even one of the box stores you mentioned where wall paper can be purchased. You could also try looking in the yellow pages in your area and calling an interior decorator firm with a woman's name as the business name.

Google "wallpaper, wallpaper hangers" and ask someone who installs it.

Update

I am just a few days away from completing my trailer wall make-over. Picking out wallpaper and finding a local vender became a royal pain. I decided to buy some quality primer & paint. I am just about done with applying the primer. The results have been fantastic!!! The interior of the trailer looks so much more clean and roomier. I'll post pics soon.
