I too have been trying to get the Quick Check for the Palm as well. I called the Cummins Electonic Service Center today

1-800-433-9341

They tell me that the Palm Quick Check will be available sometime next year. I pressed on and quized "First Part, Middle Part, or Last part of next year?". The answer was "We are attempting to have the J1939 Protocol available to end users in the first quarter of 2001. Currently we only have the J1587 Protocol available. The owners of the D/C Ram Cummins require the J1939 protocol. "

I know that I too can't wait for the Quick Check to come out. Who knows maybe WWCD2 could add this to his group purchase site and we all can get it cheaper than if buying it individually. #ad

Spoke with "JOE" today at the Cummins Power Store and the unit is still not available.

He did some digging (I can hear the keyboard clicking in background) and tells me that the unit will be available on or about June 15th.

Those of us with the PALM V dont forget to order the PALMDOCK attachment.

the guys at cummins west (san leandro, ca)get a call from me the first week of each month (for the last six months i think) and i get the same line... . not avail in the correct protocol. i'll try again, right on schedule, next week... i expect the same answer i've gotten the last 6 months.

i figure we keep on 'em they'll eventually cave in. they may be delaying trying to judge the reception in the market place. why would any business keep a winner on the drafting table?

This is a pretty CONSTANT theme over in the GM Duramax group, as THEY try to figure out why 6 months or more passes after their deposit - and STILL no new truck... In THEIR case, the "winner" part might be a stretch tho'... #ad

The mumble-mumble answer is standard from Cummins. I deal with their 8. 3 revenue engines and we get the same (non)answers on requests for product support.

Yes they have software for a PC too. A plam is smaller and batteries last longer. Palms are very cheap and small.

The pdf file says it checks "fault Codes" is this the EBD II check engine light codes? I wonder if we can clear them too?

The cable that attaches to the motor, I couldn't see if it was long enough to hook up and drive with it on, you think?

Work just bought us Palm IIIcs, hope this will work! Any price figures at all?????

to answer your questions, no you will not be able to clear any fault codes or make any changes to the computer for that matter. As of last time I spoke the only Palm that would work was the Palm 3 because they are using a modified modem adapter . Should be a cool setup if it ever hits the market.
